Meltem Apartment Renovation: About the Project

This project is still in progress. The images below do not show finished work — they show where the site stood in September 2026. We publish the process alongside finished project photos, because seeing how a renovation actually advances says more than seeing only its result.

In this apartment in Meltem, every layer apart from the load-bearing structure is being reworked. The wet rooms were stripped back to the bare blockwork, the electrical and sanitary installations were renewed and the door openings were rearranged. In the living room, bedroom and the other rooms the floor was not removed: the existing wood parquet is being refinished in place. The old lacquer and stains are sanded off, the joints are tightened and a new protective coat is applied — throwing out a sound parquet to lay a new one would be both unnecessary and a choice that erases the character of a building like this. In the kitchen, corridor and balconies the floor finish was replaced entirely.

The kitchen is currently the most advanced part: the patterned floor tiles are laid and the cabinet carcasses are in place. The worktop, splashback and doors are still being fitted. In the bathrooms, tiling and the bathtub are finished in the first wet room while the second is still under way. In the rooms, painting and final finishes belong to the next stage of the programme.

On the services side the priority is that no line should be visible in the finished apartment. The air conditioning refrigerant and drain lines are routed inside the walls; indoor unit positions and drain falls are set and checked before the walls are closed. In Antalya the air conditioning runs for most of the year, so an error in that fall becomes a problem that returns every summer.

The natural gas installation is treated the same way. The gas pipe, currently running on the surface, is being concealed inside a duct up to the boiler connection. The only constraint here is regulation: the ventilation of the gas line and the accessibility of its shut-off valve for inspection must be preserved. That is why we plan the concealment together with the authorised contractor — invisible must not mean unreachable.

We will keep updating this page with new images as the project advances.

Room by Room

The current state of each room is below. Where a "before" photo exists, drag the slider to compare the old and current condition — the right-hand side shows today’s state, not the finished result.

Corridor

The corridor running the length of the apartment is one of the most advanced parts of the project. The door openings were rearranged, the electrical lines renewed, the floor laid in large-format tiles and the mirrored built-in wardrobe installed.

Living Room

In the living room the parquet is not being removed but refinished in place: a protective coat will follow the sanding. Plaster corrections and electrical lines are complete; the air conditioning line has been routed inside the wall and the final coat of paint is next.

Kitchen

The kitchen is the most advanced part of the project. After the strip-out and the renewal of the services, the patterned floor tiles were laid and the cabinet carcasses installed. The worktop, splashback and doors are being fitted.

Bathroom

The main bathroom with the bathtub was stripped back to the bare blockwork; plumbing and waterproofing were renewed. Tiling, the bathtub and the wood-textured vanity are fitted; the sanitaryware is still being installed.

Small Bathroom

The small wet room with its squat toilet was removed entirely. The narrow space was rebuilt with a full-length wood-textured cabinet run and a recessed niche; tiling is complete and the sanitaryware is still to be fitted.

Bedroom

In the bedroom the parquet is also being refinished in place. The electrical installation and the air conditioning line were renewed and the walls corrected; sanding and final finishes are still to come.

Guest Room

In the guest room the electrical lines were renewed and the walls prepared for painting. The floor finish and final works are next.

Small Room

In the small room the services are complete. Wall and floor works belong to the next stage of the programme.

Balconies

The floor finish was renewed on both balconies of the apartment. Joinery and railing work continues on the view façade.
